Hospital ward, where I hope you be in

Today’s Medium article is the Unvaxxed vs Vaxxed Hospital Admissions and ICU units from two separate weeks in New South Wales (South coast of Australia) and then epidemiological data from 16th June to 11th December 2021 in NSW too. This will put to rest the strawman that Australians seem to think there’s more Vaccinated in hospitals in comparison to unvaxxed people. So without further ado let’s get into the article.

➡ NSW Data (31 October 2021)
NSW Covid-19 patients in hospital: 348
Percentage unvaccinated: 65%
Percentage fully vaccinated: 18.4%

COVID-19 patients in intensive care units (ICUs): 76
Percentage unvaccinated: 84.4%
Percentage fully vaccinated: 9.1%

Rate of hospital patients per million:
Hospital rate among unvaccinated: 373.9
Hospital rate among vaccinated: 11.1

Rate of ICU patients per million
ICU rate among unvaccinated: 107.3
ICU rate among vaccinated: 1.3

➡ NSW Data (5th December 2021)
NSW Covid-19 patients in hospital: 152
Percentage unvaccinated: 58.4%
Percentage fully vaccinated: 27.3%

COVID-19 patients in intensive care units (ICUs): 24
Percentage unvaccinated: 68%
Percentage fully vaccinated: 24%

Rate of hospital patients per million
Hospital rate among unvaccinated: 170.2
Hospital rate among vaccinated: 6.6

Rate of ICU patients per million
ICU rate among unvaccinated: 34.4
ICU rate among vaccinated: 1.0

(Source: https://aci.health.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0012/696567/20211209-COVID-19-Monitor.pdf)

As we can see from the stats above, Covid-19 vaccines are working, are effective and are preventing huge swathes of vaccinated out of NSW hospital(s). Definitely more unvaxxed in hospital than vaccinated in hospital and this is a VERY good reason to get your 1st, 2nd or 3rd (booster) vaccine to prevent hospitalision, severe disease and death.

➡ Clinical severity by vaccination status (16 June to 11 December 2021)
Total cases: 126,936
Fully vaccinated cases: 42,847
Fully vaccinated patient hospitalised: 1014
Partially vaccinated cases: 7304
Partially vaccinated hospitalised: 619
Unvaxxed cases: 45,113
Unvaxxed Hospitalised: 1,115

Percentages of fully vaccinated vs unvaxxed patients in hospital
Fully vaccinated: 2.4% of cases
Unvaxxed: 12.4% of cases

Patients who died:
Fully vaccinated: 96
Unvaxxed: 420

Again this data shows that being fully vaccinated helps keep people out of the hospital in comparison to unvaccinated individuals. Even looking at the deaths, far greater mortality of cases in the unvaxxed compared to fully vaccinated individuals.

➡ Conclusion
If you’re in Australia just look at the solid science data above and from the epidemiological source on the last point, far more people dying, in ICU units and being hospitalised are people who are unvaccinated, I cannot stress enough that you should get vaccinated when you can, you speak of informed consent, the data above should hold more weight than your informed choice is based on scientific data rather than online scaremongering and assumptions.
