HIV has NO link to Covid Vaccines
In today’s Medium article I will be discussing the nonsensical claim that anti-vaxxers are spreading which they believe Covid-19 vaccines caused a new variant of AIDS to emerge or “gives” people HIV. I seriously cannot believe I have to make this article, it’s basically virology 101 that HIV is not within the vaccines and the vaccine cannot give you HIV. As with all crazy claims, I go to debunk this. So without further ado let’s get into the article.
➡ Source of the false claims
Social media is known for its plethora of false information spread but this [1], there are also claims from other online distribution platforms of fake scientific claims such as The Expose where they took data from the UKHSA [2] and falsified the data for an anti-vaccine narrative. The Expose without any scientific somehow calculated their own false estimate of vaccine effectiveness [3] (they probably don’t understand the definition anyway) to state the effectiveness of the vaccine(s) would reach -100% (which is absurd), all of this with no peer-reviewed studies backing up claims and with no scientists to conduct the estimates for them.
The Expose also states as well that you would lose “100% of your immune system”, another lie. As we know from one of my previous Medium articles [4], the immune system is an elaborate connection of components that is not just there to prevent infection at first sight but fight against infection once it has occurred [5]. As they falsely stated about losing “100% of your immune system” a direct failure within one’s immune system at preventing onset infection of SARS-CoV-2 doesn’t equate to evidence of someone contracting HIV. To further add evidence to no loss of immune system function, the vaccines work efficiently as they should and DO NOT cause any type if immune deficiency [6].

➡ New HIV strain wasn’t caused by Covid Vaccines
There is a new variant of HIV circulating around in the Netherlands [1], the University of Oxford has identified this new variant and stated “By analysing the patterns of genetic variation among the samples, the researchers estimate that the VB variant first arose during the late 1980s and 1990s in the Netherlands.” [2]. What this evidence shows us is that the HIV variant pre-dates the vaccines and even the vaccine rollout, so you cannot use correlational evidence to link the two, let alone any causal evidence.

➡ HIV wasn’t an ingredient used in vaccines
Another false claim about HIV is that anti-vaxxers believe that strands of HIV were used in the making of vaccines, the vaccine ingredients are public to see [1] [2], the vaccine ingredients are also on leaflets for informed consent before pre-vaccination [3]. It’s absolutely impossible for other ingredients to have been used and there’s no peer-reviewed evidence to suggest otherwise, apart from poorly made online claims with little to no scientific evidence.

➡ Conclusion
HIV/Aids is not given to people in any of the vaccines, nor does the vaccines reduce your immunity by 100%, all claims hold absolutely no weight and none even come with peer-reviewed studies to back the claims up. All claims made online about this are very weak and can easily be debunked by scientists, medical experts and healthcare professionals.
