Clinical trial volunteers

Very short Medium article today debunking the fallacy anti-CovidVacciners repeat regarding the year 2023 when they falsely state is when vaccine trials end. (this is not the case as you’ll see)

2023 is when Phase IV studies end for pharmacovigilance. Clinical trials have already ended and the data peer-reviewed. I hope you enjoy reading my article.

➡ Pharmacovigilance
So what is pharmacovigilance? — the practice of monitoring the effects of medical drugs after they have been licensed for use, especially in order to identify and evaluate previously unreported adverse reactions. (Source: https://ahpsr.who.int/publications/i/item/9789241547499)

Yes, this also means at the EUA (Emergency Authorised Approval) as well. When EUA is in motion this means the clinical trials have finished and the agencies such as the FDA and MHRA respectively would look at this data to see if it’s safe, effective and does its job before rollout to the general public.

The Emergency Use Authorisation or EUA process is used by the FDA and MHRA respectively to make medical products (including diagnostic tests, therapeutics, and vaccines) available quickly during an emergency based on the best available scientific evidence and taking into account that there are no other available approved alternatives.

➡ Stages of clinical trials
Before we go into each clinical trial stage and cut any strawman argument about “oh it should take 10 years to get a finished vaccine” this is only true if funding, speed and resources are not fully established. With the current pandemic we have, this wasn’t the case, everything was already there, as you need funding for the research, pay each volunteer and other aspects as well.

➡ Finished clinical trials of vaccines
Pfizer and AstraZeneca finished their clinical trials and had their data peer-reviewed by Dec 2020 and Moderna finished their clinical trials by Feb 2021 with the data peer-reviewed. Below is the concluded clinical trials of all vaccines used within the UK at this current time.

➡ Conclusion
Please share this information as it’s a common falsehood that’s been misconstrued within social media, the information above helps break this fallacy down as I try to help with easy to understand Q/As and tried to make the dialogue as short as possible.
